A new agreement signed by both parties in the last month will see the Scots Language Centre and the Lorimer Trust working together to promote the Scots translation of the New Testament. The Scots version of the New Testament was begun by William L Lorimer and completed after his death by his son Robin. After Robin died the Trust was established to do everything possible to promote the translation. The New Testament has been published for some time by Canongate. A CD version of the Luke gospel was released last year with recordings of the three other gospels due to be produced in time for Easter next year. Michael Hance from the Scots Language Centre said, "It's great to be able to release the news that the Centre and the Trust have decided to work together to promote the translation of the New Testament. The translation is one of the great treasures of Scottish and Scots literature and it is a privilege for the Centre to be associated with it. We are looking at some news ways of increasing knowledge of the existence of the translation and hope to be able to make an announcement about these before long."
