Scots Listening Activities: Hogmanay and Burns Nicht
Hogmanay and Burns Nicht are original texts that were written for The Chinese University of Hong Kong as part of a project on linguistic diversity.
The reflective pieces explore the writers’ experiences and interpretations of traditional activities during these occasions.
It is suggested that these texts are used with learners working towards CfE levels 3 or 4, or SCQF level 4. The activities are particularly relevant for those studying the SQA Scots Language Award at level 4, and explicit reference is made to Outcome 1 of the ‘Understanding and Communicating’ part of this qualification. The texts are available on YouTube and there are downloadable activities available below.
