Conference for Burns Birthday

The Association for Scottish Literary Studies is to mark the 250 anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns with a one day conference entitled Burns Language: Then and Now. The conference will be held at 12 University Gardens, University of Glasgow, on 28 February 2009 and speakers will include: 10.30-11.15am Pauline Gray on Burns Bawdy language, 11.15am.12.00 Jeremy Smith on Burns Punctuation, 12.00-12.45pm Dorian Grieve on Ideas of Language in the Time of Burns, 1.30-2.15pm Christine Robinson on Burns and the Scottish Dictionaries and 2.15-3.00pm John Corbett on Burns in Modern Quotation.
