Annual Day of Scottish Culture

Perth Burns Club has organised the Annual Day of Scottish Culture to commemorate St Andrews Day. This will take place in the AK Bell Library Theatre, York Place, Perth, beginning at 1pm. There will be a series of 40 minute talks by well-known figures, which will touch on various aspects of Scottish cuture, including language. Speakers include Professor Tom Devine, Dr Gerard Carruthers, Harry MacGrath, Simon Fraser and members of the Neil Munro Society. Tickets cost 5 (which include tea and biscuits) and may be obtained by phoning 01738 477016 or direct from the AK Bell Library shop, or by e-mailing elliot.boyle@talktalk.net. In addition, there will be a night of traditional Scottish music, in the same place, beginning at 7.30pm, with entertainment by The Linties, Scott Gardiner and Johnny Kemp, and the John Napier Fiddle Group. Tickets are 6 and may be obtained from the same outlets as above.
