Shetland ForWirds fundraiser

Shetland ForWirds is holding a fund-raising concert at the Garrison Theatre, Lerrick, beginning at 7.30pm. The night will be a celeberation of the spoken word in Shetland, with songs and sketches "fae peerie mottie bairns ta falk it's laekly aulder as dey look." Those taking part include: children from Bells Brae School Club performing "Callyshang at da Show" (winner of the junior cup at the Shetland County Drama Festival); two childrens' choirs from Sandwick and Cunningsburgh schools singing Shetland songs; films made by youths at Whalsay and Uyeasound schools; the sketch 'Tamar an Beenie'; and music from Maurice Henderson. The MD for the night will be Ewen Balfour. Tickets cost 5 and can be purchased either from Islesburgh Community Centre or from members of Shetland ForWirds committee.
