Glaswegian Translators Sought
19th October 2009
A London-based firm of translators has advertised for people who can interpret the Glaswegian form of Scots for their clients. The company, Translators, has asked for people who understand ‘Glaswegian English’ to contact them. Translators' head, Jurga Zilinskiene, told the Daily Record, “We are aware some of our foreign and UK clients can find the Glaswegian accent and dialect difficult to decipher…” Ex-Lord provost of Glasgow Alex Mosson is reported to have described the initiative as a “a lot of tripe”.
