On the evening of Saturday 26 March 'The Braw Nicht Oot' was held at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh. It was well attended by storytellers in the Scots language from the various regions, from the Borders to Aberdeenshire. Organised by Prestonpans storyteller Tim Porteus, it also included singers such as Alex Hodgson and Coreen Scott. There was also a performance of the play 'Maggie's Body' which was very well received and watched by a packed house. The night ended with a roaring rendition of Auld Lang Syne. The night had been organised to mark the appearance of the Scots language question on the census.
