Ulster Scots at the BBC
1st June 2010
A new online resource for children has been launched by the BBC in Ulster. Laura Spence, Producer for Ulster Scots at the BBC in Belfast, recently described the new resource which was launched in March of this year. The interactive website, aimed at children aged 7-11, is called ‘Saint Patrick’s Journey’ and can be read in three versions: English, Ulster Scots and Irish Gaelic. The website tells the story of the life of Saint Patrick and includes various activities (such as games) intended to inform children about life in 5th century Ireland. These include “Build a Celtic Settlement (Big a Kelt’s Toon)” and also an up to date section called “Irish Mission (Petherick’s Stravaigins)” which looks at the various sites in Ireland today associated with Saint Patrick. If you would like to visit the site please follow this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/northernireland/saintpatrick/
