Scots Language Co-ordinators
25th June 2013
Education Scotland recently announced that it was about to advertise the posts of Scots Language Co-ordinators for Scotland. The co-ordinators, whose task it will be to develop Scots language policy within education on a national basis, by region, were originally to take up post in the next month. However, Education Scotland was contacted by a number of Scots language organisations, headed by the Scots Language Centre, calling for more clarity as to the details of the posts, and for more time for applicants to apply and prepare. Education Scotland has since considered the calls for further clarity and time to be a sensible way forward and now the posts will be advertised at the end of August or beginning of September with a view to successful applicants taking up posts in the autumn. Michael Hance, Director of the Scots Language Centre, had previously written to the Scottish Government regarding concerns voiced by interested organizations.
