Government publishes languages strategy
29th January 2007
The Scottish Executive is asking for interested individuals and organisations to respond to its recently published Strategy for Scotland's Languages. According to the Executive the strategy highlights the key areas of language policy that are currently being promoted by the government. Our aim is to celebrate and promote the rich diversity of languages spoken in Scotland, to raise the profile of Scotland's languages, to ensure that this rich heritage is recognised as a national resource and to encourage people living in Scotland to learn languages other than their own. We are seeking the views of individuals and organisations with an interest in language matters on this strategy. The consultation begins on Friday, January 26, 2007. Submissions should be with the Executive by March 09, 2007. For more information e-mail: scotlandslanguagestrategy@scotland.gsi.gov.uk or call Barry Matthews on 0131 244 0326
