The Dundee Literary Festival is taking place in late October and will include some events centred on, or relating to, the Scots language. On Friday 21 October, from 10-11am Professor Chris Whately, University of Dundee, will be speaking about his book Immortal Memory which examines the role the memory of Robert Burns had on Scottish society after his death in 1796. From 11-12 Tim Armstrong and Matthew Fitt will be speaking about their two science fiction novels in Gaelic and Scots – Air Cuan Dubh Drilseach (On a Glittering Black Sea) and But n Ben A Go-Go. On Saturday 22 October from 10-11am Matthew Fitt will be hosting a Roald Dahl Party in which he introduces children to his translations of works by Dahl. That same night from 6.15-7.15pm Scots poet Rab Wilson, and Irish and Gaelic poet Roddy Gorman, will be speaking about their works in the English, Gaelic, and Scots languages.

All of the above events will be held in the Bonar Hall, Park Place, University of Dundee.
