Scotland & Ulster Forum
27th July 2018
The Forum for Research on the Languages of Scotland and Ulster will be holding its 12th triennial meeting from Thursday 23 August until Saturday 25 August 2018. The English Language & Linguistics Department of the University of Glasgow is hosting the forum which will be held at Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor, 1-9 Grosvenor Terrace, Glasgow.
The FRLSU is an academic conference dedicated to researching and sharing knowledge about the Celtic and Germanic languages of Scotland and the nine counties of Ulster, whether written, spoken or signed, both today and in the past. The theme this year is ‘Linguistic Migrations’ looking at the past and present interaction between the languages as well as more recent immigrant languages. There will also be discussion of language attitudes, identities and aspects of grammar as well as a report on the Scots language in the Curriculum for Excellence. See the FRLSU website for the programme and details and the Eventbrite page for registration.
The cost of the forum is £180 (£90 concession), but day rates from £30 (£15 concession) are available. For more information please contact principal organiser Dr Joanna Kopaczyk on arts-frlsu2018@glasgow.ac.uk .
