Scots Language Society Annual Conference

The annual conference of the Scots Language Society will be held this Saturday at the Birnam Institute, Dunkeld, Perthshire, starting at 9am and finishing at 5pm. The subject for this year's conference will be the 16th century master-poet Gavin Douglas and the Eneados. Professor Richard Fawcett of Historic Scotland will set the scene at 10am followed by Sangschaw 2008 at 10.50 during which the winner of the Scotsoun Hugh MacDiarmid Tassie for poetry will be announced. At 11.10 Dr Caroline Macafee will speak about 'The Language of the Eneados', followed at 1.30pm by Professor Ted Cowan on 'Gavin Douglas: the politics of his times'. The annual accounts and annual general meeting of the society will be held at midday. The winner of the Scotsoun Robert McLellan Tassie for prose will be announced at 2.20pm as part of Sangschaw 2008.
