The Caerlaverock Cat
26th January 2017
Fife writer Maureen Sangster officially launches her new work ‘The Caerlaverock Cat’ today at the Cupcake Coffee Box on the High Street, Kirkcaldy. Maureen previously worked on the Fife railways project ‘Conversations’ which placed art work and texts in Scots at Fife railway stations and has written other works using Scots. The Carelaverock Cat was originally written in English, but Maureen decided that it sounded far better in Scots and so produced a Scots version which she and her friend Sheena have now made into a CD. It tells the story of a cat and its adventures, aided and abetted by a little boy. Maureen hopes that it will add to the material being used in promoting the Scots language within our schools. The Fife Writers group will get a preview today in Kirkcaldy and the CD goes on sale from tonight. It is available, price £9.99, from Waterstones in Kirkcaldy, or directly from Maureen at Maureen.sangster@yahoo.co.uk remembering to add £1.80 for postage and packing.
