Scots Language Centre Centre for the Scots Leid

Competition for filmmakers in Scots

6th April 2010

The Babel Film Festival provides an opportunity for any Scots language filmmakers to broadcast their work. It is the first competition to promote cinema in linguistic minorities and to “give voice to their history, culture and language.” The competition, hosted in Sardinia, is open to any filmmaker, of any age, from any country, who has produced work in the language of a cultural or social minority. The work produced must contain at least 60% of its dialogue and scripts in the minority language and may be entered in one of two categories: short film, or documentary. The film must also be subtitled in English, and, if possible, in Italian too.

The closing date for entries is 31 July 2010. For more information please contact info@babelfilmfestival.com or Società Umanitania, Cineteca Sarda, Viale Trieste 118- 09123 Cagliari, or visit the website at www.babelfilmfestival.com
