The Actéon Tour
9th February 2015
Last year the Scots Language Centre highlighted the opera Acton Meets Tam O Shanter, which combines a story from Greek mythology with Robert Burnss 18th century tale of the supernatural. The original French version by Marc-Antoine Charpentier has been translated into Scots by Chris Waddell of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.
The cast of this baroque opera is headed by professional tenor David Douglas and also includes Aimee Toshney, Siobhan McAuley, Alison McNeill and Colleen Nicole. In January this year the cast performed the opera at the Robert Burns Humanitarian Awards which recognises those who promote human rights and social reform.
We are pleased to learn that the production is now set for a small tour and will be performed at The Albany, in Greenock (25 April), The Gaiety Theatre, Ayr (23 May), and Lamlash Community Theatre, Isle of Arran (30 May). Ticket prices range from 12.50 to 13.50, with concessions available.
