A Gruffalo Tour
19th February 2015
Children
are in for a special treat during March when the Gruffalo takes to the road, in
both English and Scots. In a co-venture brought to you by Into Film and
Education Scotland, there will be special screenings of the Gruffalo animation
at four venues in Aberdeen, Irvine, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
Accompanying the
screenings will be four versions in the Scots language read by well known
authors in their respective dialects: Sheena Blackhall in North East Scots, or
Doric, at Aberdeen, Rab Wilson in West Central (Ayrshire) Scots at Irvine,
Alison Millar in Orkney dialect at Kirkwall, and Laureen Johnson in Shetland
dialect at Lerwick. Each of these versions will be a wonderful opportunity to
showcase the breadth and depth of the rich, distinct dialects.
Each event, which runs between 10am and 12 on the particular days, is aimed at P3, P4 and P5 pupils and will also include educational activities. For further information about individual events please take a look at the Scots Language centre events calendar.
