Dido an Aeneas is an opera wrutten til a libretto bi the Inglis composer Hendrie Purcell (1659-1695) an haed its first kent ootset in Lunnon in 1689. It tells the story o Dido, the legendar queen o Carthage, that gaed gyte for the Trojan weirrior Aeneas, an is grundit on Buik IV o the Roman makar Virgil’s Aeneid, wrutten 2,000 year syne. The Scots Opera Project haes taen this story an noo set it in a mythic Celtic Scotland, tae be held in the Pitlochry Fest Theatre, an makkin uiss o performers fae hameaboot.
